What Does “The Work Remembers” Mean?
The Work remembers is liturgical compression. It does not claim that the universe stores an eternal moral record.
The explanatory proposition is The Work remembers imperfectly. Consequence persists through carriers such as bodies, habits, records, institutions, environments, infrastructure, stories, and practices. Those carriers can distort, transform, decay, or disappear.
Memory needs carriers
The Work remembers because something carries residue. The Work forgets when carriers fail. That finitude gives maintenance, archives, witness, repair, and succession practical importance.
Entropy and memory
Entropy and remembrance therefore occupy the same finite world. DCI makes no claim of permanent information preservation for every human consequence. It asks what prior participation has placed into present conditions and what current agency will pass onward.
